The genesis of the song was an experiment - my initial aim was to saturate drums using tape, inspired by a technique I'd seen Legowelt use in a FACT magazine video. However, the creative process led me in a different direction; fusing a drum loop recorded on tape with layered instruments, which resulted in the distinctive auditory tapestry of "King."
