Tribes came from an album where I asked: why do we persist in destructive patterns of thinking and behaviour, even after we become aware of their negative impact on our lives? I reflected on my experiences and realised that whenever I felt trapped in one of those cycles, I was afraid - afraid to part with the devil I knew in case it was replaced by something worse.
I wrote Tribes to express how I feel about systems that wilfully perpetuate our fear of the unknown to foster division between us, to manipulate and control us, and to incite war.
This version of Tribes was brought to life by the wonderful Jack Nissan and the mighty Tinderbox Orchestra.
